August is Black Philanthropy Month (BPM). The primary aims of BPM are to inform, involve, inspire and invest in Black philanthropic leadership to strengthen African-American and African-Descent giving in all its forms. The BPM theme for 2018 is: For the Culture, For the Future.

This inaugural meeting will provide an overview of giving circles in general, subcommittee opportunities and general updates. Also, members will be able to meet each other in person, find out ways they can help shape the giving circle’s future and learn more about our efforts to support and uplift our community. 

The Philadelphia Black Giving Circle (PBGC) is a new initiative which aims to leverage collective resources from diverse donors to support non-profit organizations undertaking impactful work in the Black community. The mission of PGBC is to cultivate charitable giving amongst the Black community, build the capacity and financial sustainability of Black-led non-profits, and address the most pressing needs facing the Black community in the Greater Philadelphia region.

Please join civic, nonprofit, and philanthropic leaders from our region as we launch the inaugural season of the Giving Circle and learn about our goals for 2018 and beyond. This event is free and open to the public.

Membership and participation in PBGC are open to anyone who wants to advance the goals of PBGC and has an interest in fortifying Black communities in Philadelphia and the organizations that serve them.
