2022 Black Liberation Grant Award Honorees

For 2022 the Philadelphia Black Giving Circle (PBGC), elevated organizations seeking to uplift Black communities, highlight liberatory practices and Black joy through the Black Liberation Grant Fund. We are pleased to announce 5 grantees for this Fund, totaling $125,000. Each organization received a $25,000 general operating support and given the opportunity to share more about their work.

Black Girls with Green Thumbs

Black Girls with Green Thumbs is growing a community of gardeners seeking to restore their connection to food for wellness and education to heal, nourish, and learn. They believe it is our responsibility to share educational, spiritual, and practical messages and experiences as an expression of our love for our community.

Collective Climb is a Black Feminist organization empowering BIPOC teenagers (15-19) in West Philadelphia through three programs the Restorative Community Project, a Youth Advisory Board and Collective Kickbacks. They are committed to Black Joy, security and freedom.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FOR ADVANCEMENT HANGOUT, INC.

YEAH works to create safe and authentic hangout spaces by providing culturally relevant engagement and implementing teen led interventions to address the root causes of violence. Utilizing teen action, YEAH works to interrupt the cycle of youth community violence in West and Southwest Philadelphia neighborhoods through peer led mediation and conflict resolution, community engagement, and economic opportunities.
